Best Time to Visit Mauritius

Africa, Blog - GoroadTrip - November 24, 2018

time to visit Mauritius

Mauritius is paradise with its dream beaches and turquoise lagoon but it would be a shame not to leave your hotel to enjoy the incredible wealth of the island. There are interesting excursions whether you are a water sports enthusiast or a culture buff, ready to meet the people of Mauritius and their heritage. It is easy to visit Mauritius because everything is set up to satisfy the most demanding customers.

The island has a tropical climate with a warm weather all of the year. The best time to visit Mauritius is from May to December when the weather is cool and dry in addition to being sunny.

Best Time to Visit Mauritius

Port Louis

Port Louis is the beautiful capital of Mauritius. Not to visit there would be a shame because it is a city that deserves to be visited at least for its big market. Mingle with the population and taste the street food and observe the daily life of the Mauritians. Stroll through all the markets to discover all the beautiful fruits and vegetables but also the bazaar where they sell clothes, souvenirs, etc. Summer is a great time to visit Mauritius.

Île aux Cerfs Island or Deer Island

Deer Island is one of the favorite places in Mauritius. It is an uninhabited coastal island that lies to the east of Mauritius. It is a place where Mauritians like to go for a day on weekends to picnic with the family.

There are several options in “all inclusive tour” mode but for more authenticity and be completely free it is recommended you take the water taxi to Trou d’Eau Douce which leaves every 20 minutes and will take you there in a dozen minutes. The hot summer months is a fantastic time to visit Mauritius.

Pamplemousses Garden

The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is one of the most visited sites on the island. It has also changed its name and is now called the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden (name of the former prime minister). This garden of 37 hectares is a beautiful visit to make.  You can visit it with a guide that will be available at the entrance of the garden. This allows to know the history of the park and to know a little more about the specimens that can be observed.

Blue Bay For Snorkeling

South of the island is an exceptional site for snorkeling. The Blue Bay Marine Park is known for its magnificent backdrops. Hire a small glass bottom boat which allows you to learn a little more about the different corals and you will be able to dive with your masks and snorkels for a pure moment of pleasure among the fish of all colors. There are a lot of providers along the beach, do not hesitate to negotiate rates.

La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park

It is one of the most incredible places on the island where the earth is of 7 different colors because of the presence of volcanic ash containing mineral oxides of different colors. This place is located in the region of Chamarel, next to the national park.
