The Comoros Islands do not have a well-developed tourism industry even though there is enormous presence of natural resources that can be used for tourism. Dominant in the southern part of the Great Comora volcano, Karthala is a popular, but amazing two day hike, ideal for adventurers and climbers. The peak of 2343 meters (7743 feet) is often obscured by clouds, and the path passes through dense forests before reaching the lunar craters near the summit.
The main city of Anjouan in Mutsamudu, was built in the Swahili and Shirazi style, and its wonderful architecture and decoration are a pleasure to see. It is one of the main Comoros attraction. The city is full of houses and buildings of the seventeenth century, as well as mosques, citadels and charming winding streets.
The spectacular beach of Chomoni , a Comoros attraction, is located in the Gran Comora, has lava flows to thank for adding unique black volcanic rocks that are found in the white sands, adding charm. With crystal clear waters, beach lovers are worth a visit.
The small town of Itsamia in Moheli benefited from the relatively small cast of the island, becoming an important nursery for sea turtles. Sea turtles are protected here but tourists have the opportunity to participate in the activities of the region thanks to focus on ecotourism. Taking into account the intact nature, tourists have almost a guarantee that they will see turtles at any time of the year.
The Dziancoundre waterfall in Anjouan is wonderful stop for a moment of relaxation. It is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on all the islands. You can feel ylang-ylang, clover and vanilla, which grow throughout the island, relaxing in the waterfall.
Lac Sale is extremely deep. It seems that no one knows exactly how deep Lake Caldera is. It is even more beautiful with an incredible background of the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. When the weather is nice, visitors can explore the entire caldera.
Diving at Mayotte
Divers should definitely visit the relatively small island of Mayotte (Mahore) to do amazing dives. Relax with huge manta rays, whales, lunar spirits, sharks, lobsters, sails and hundreds of marine species. Coelacanth, considered extinct for millions of years, is found in the waters around the Great Chamber and Anjouan.
Dos du Dragon
The Dragon’s Back, or Dragon’s Back, is a series of rock formations near the Karthala volcano in Grand Comore, reminiscent of the dragon’s points. They are located on a curved peninsula and you can see them better from Turtle Island on the other side of the bay or you can climb.
Mitsamiouli, located north of the Grande Comore, is famous for the best dancers of the Comoros in the archipelago. Visitors can see the planned show, but the most common dance is spontaneous. Mitsamiouli is also a great base for diving enthusiasts in the Grande Comore.
